This unit is an integral component of the post graduate rehabilitation program and focusses on providing current clinicians with the opportunity to review, appreciate and enhance the quality of their clinical reasoning in practice. Students will explore models of clinical reasoning across health disciplines and then focus on the contribution of their discipline in the rehabilitation process. Advanced reasoning skills related to assessment; patient-centred goal setting selection and application of evidence-based treatment strategies; and use of outcome measures. The unit aims to guide students in their critical analysis of current practice, facilitating consideration of advanced content knowledge and skills required for optimal professional management of patient populations within a multicultural society and varied rehabilitation contexts.
