10 cp Prerequisites YSED100 History of Young People and YSED205 Ethical Principles and Practice of Youth Work Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week for twelve weeks or equivalent of lectures, tutorials and workshops offered on-campus or online.
In this unit, students will be introduced to a range of theoretical underpinnings in assessment and crisis and case management by grounding these approaches in statutory and voluntary organisational settings. The effective coordination and matching of needs and resources alongside the importance of establishing a relationship with the young person in this context will be explored. Students will learn to deal with challenging behaviours and respond to critical incidents by understanding constructive, adaptive strategies and practice to assist young people to deal with their emotions and behaviours. The unit will enable students to explore the use of integrated and collaborative case management models.
