Teaching Organisation 3 hours per week (two hours of lectures and one hour of tutorial) for 12 weeks or equivalent in intensive mode or online.
Social marketing refers to the adoption of the consumer-centric philosophy of marketing and the adaptation of commercial marketing tools to "sell" changes in attitudes and behaviours for individual and social benefit. Social marketing is used to facilitate behaviour change in a wide variety of contexts such as road safety, environmentalism, and lifestyle modification. However, its most extensive use has been in the field of health.
Social marketing forms the foundation of numerous health campaigns which rely on voluntary behaviour change including, but not limited to, improved dietary choices, increased exercise, smoking cessation, alcohol consumption moderation, sun safety and early detection of cancer. It is an important element of the Australian government's preventative health strategy and forms a core activity of the Australian National Preventative Health Agency.
