Ethical leadership is very important for the health and well-being of not only those involved in an organisation, but also for the organisation itself. This unit reflects on the nature of ethical leadership and what this means for the management processes and work practices of institutions. Consideration will be given to the qualities, moral character, personal values, and leadership styles which an ethical leader should have and how these foster cooperation, trust, and loyalty within an organisation. The role of leadership and its responsibilities in the creation of an ethical corporate culture will be explored. Emphasis will be placed on developing ethical and moral frameworks within the context of the Mission of the University for Leaders who aim to be credible to their constituents while integrating changes into a clear vision of the future.
