Effective resource management involves the ability to decide between competing needs and strategies while working with limited resources. In the context of sport this involves balancing issues related to human, financial and capital resources and underpinned by risk and uncertainty. This unit introduces students to commonly utilised systematic processes that can underpin and support effective decision making in sport. Students will understand and be able to utilise a range of conceptual and software supported methods to control and manage resource utilisation, analyse risks inherent in selecting among competing strategic choices. Students will be able to analyse trends, extrapolate future cost/benefit implications and evaluate return on investment in order to assist in decision making.
