Prerequisites ETHN109 Indigenous Cultures within Contemporary Australian Society
Teaching Organisation 12 weeks or equivalent. This unit is offered in mixed-mode where there will be 16 hours of direct contact during the two residential periods consisting of lectures and tutorials/workshops. In addition, there will be an online component which will be undertaken between the two residential periods. Students are expected to spend approximately 150 hours in total for a 10 credit point unit.
This unit is concerned with the history of Indigenous peoples from 1788 to the present (concentrating on how Indigenous communities have responded to invasion and settlement and adapted their cultures), and an exploration of contemporary Indigenous issues within an Australian political framework. This unit will also focus on developing students’ research skills in conjunction with the following objectives.
