In this unit, students will explore a range of educational approaches to TESOL in the light of understandings about language and language learning. They will consider the roles of teachers and learners. Students will design and evaluate tasks and plan lessons which develop learner competence in the four macro-skills based on knowledge about the systems of English as well as the nature of second language learning. Students will also consider strategies to meet the needs of learners at beginners to advanced levels in various classroom contexts. This unit includes a practicum component.
