EDFX662 Arts and Technology in the Early Years (Including Graduate Professional Experience 2: Three to Five Years)
This unit provides an examination of the Arts (including drama, dance, music and the visual arts) and of technology (including design, ICT/media and the manual arts) and their place in the curriculum. It explores the role of the Arts and technology in children’s play, development and learning and the importance of creativity and aesthetics within an early years curriculum. Each artistic form is explored both individually and as a connected aspect of the curriculum, reflective of young children’s learning and interactions with the arts and technology in prior to school and school settings. Within the unit students explore a range of approaches and teaching strategies relevant to supporting the arts and technology in the early years. Contemporary pedagogical issues and the monitoring of and planning for arts and technology development will also be examined, with a particular focus on the participation rights of children, and emphasis given to Australian Indigenous children, children with disabilities and children experiencing marginalisation.
This unit is inclusive of the 15 day Graduate Professional Experience 2 (three to five years).
