Teaching Organisation Teaching and learning strategies will include learner-centred resource sessions, tutorials/ workshops, web-based learning and science laboratory activities. Students will be expected to take responsibility for their learning and to participate actively within group activities, demonstrating respect for the individual as an independent learner.
This is the second of two inter-professional foundation science units. The students knowledge of anatomy and physiology will be extended in relation to transport of gases, fluid and electrolyte balance, digestion and elimination, and reproduction and life-span biology. Basic principles of microbiology and body defence mechanisms will be linked to infection control practices. Physical science concepts will be related to body function. Students will be actively engaged in applying this knowledge to health related situations.
