EFTSL value of units : All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

Admission requirements

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

International students need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites:

  1. Bachelor degree in Education or Bachelor degree and a recognised teaching qualification; or
  2. Bachelor degree in an area other than Education.

Completion requirements

Students admitted under Admission Requirement A

Pathway 1 (120 cp)

To qualify for the Master of Educational Leadership, a  student must complete  120 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 20 cp from  Specified Educational Leadership Units (Part A);
  2. 70 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings with a  maximum of 40 credit points of elective units (Part B);
  3. 30 cp from Capstone  Units (Part D).

* Students may take Electives drawn from the  Schedule of Unit Offerings (listed) and/or other units drawn from relevant ACU  postgraduate programs; or by cross-institutional study with prior approval of  the Course Coordinator. A maximum of 40 cp of elective units can be at  500-level.

Pathway 2 (120 cp)

To qualify for the Master of Educational Leadership degree with a named specialisation in:

  • Catholic Educational Leadership
  • Leading Learning
  • Indigenous Leadership
  • Executive Leadership

A student must complete 120 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 20 cp from Specified Educational Leadership units (Part A);
  2. 40 cp from one Specialisation group (Part B);
  3. 30 cp from Electives* (Part C);
  4. 30 cp from Capstone  units (The Capstone must relate to specialisation) (Part D)

* Students may take Electives drawn from the Schedule of Unit Offerings  (listed) and/or other units drawn from relevant ACU postgraduate programs; or  by cross-institutional study with prior approval of the Course Coordinator. A  maximum of 30 cp of elective units can be at 500-level.


Students admitted under Admission Requirement B

Pathway 3 (160 cp)

  1. 20 cp from Specified Educational Leadership units (Part A);
  2. 70 cp from one the Schedule of Unit Offerings (Part B);
  3. 40 cp from Electives* (Part C);
  4. 30 cp from Capstone  units (Part D)

* Students may take Electives drawn from the Schedule of Unit Offerings  (listed) and/or other units drawn from relevant ACU postgraduate programs; or by cross-institutional study with prior approval of the Course Coordinator. A  maximum of 40 cp of elective units can be at 500-level.

Exit points

3.1 A student who has completed 40 cp with 20 cp from specified units in the Schedule of Unit Offerings may exit with a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership

3.2 A student who has completed 80 cp with 20cp from Specified Units and at least 20 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings may exit with a Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership.
