Entry into this course is based on a combination of a written submission (personal statement essay), an interview and academic performance. Applicants are assessed on a combination of:

  1. written submission of a personal statement,
  2. ATAR-Selection Rank including adjustment factors, International Baccalaureate (IB), or equivalent, and
  3. interview.

Definition

'Major': 80 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at 100-level at least 40 cp at 200-level and at least 20 cp from 300-level.

'Minor': 40 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at 100-level and at least 20 cp at 200- or 300-level.

Completion requirements

To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 140 cp from Western Civilisation Specified Units (Part A)
  2. 10cp from Community Engagement Units (Part B)
  3. 10cp from Western Civilisation Elective Units (Part C)
  4. 80cp from BA Majors’ Units listed in the Schedule of Unit Offerings (Part D)

Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.

Exit points

Students who have met the requirements of the Diploma in Liberal Arts can exit with this award.

Unless otherwise specified, students must complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100-level) in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced level units (200 or 300-level) in that sequence. Any additional prerequisites for individual units are shown in brackets after the unit in the Schedule of Unit Offerings.
