The aim of this unit is to introduce the technical and analytical skills required to analyse accounting information for management decisions in a variety of contexts. The unit reviews management accounting as an information system that produces the data required to efficiently and effectively manage resources and to create value in organisations. The unit will provide students with an appreciation of management accounting concepts and techniques related to the management functions of planning, control, and decision making. A number of management accounting tools and quantitative techniques, including digital technologies, are used to analyse how business processes consume resources, create value for an organisation and its customers.
