EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Admission Requirements
An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed:
- Equivalent of year 12 level with the ACU minimum eligibility rank for Diploma programs;
OR - Entry via an alternative pathway as approved by ACU.
International students need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
Alternate entry provisions including an interview, English language testing and written assessment apply to students accepted through the Refugee Education Project.

2. Requirements for Completion
Total number of credit points: 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings*, consisting of:
- 10 or 20 cp from Specified Units; and
- 60 or 70 cp from Arts Electives
* Students who enrol in the Diploma in Liberal Arts after completing an undergraduate degree may apply for an exemption from the requirement to complete Specified Units. Students who are granted exemptions from Specified Units will complete Arts Electives.
3. Progression Requirements
Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator and bound by decisions of the School Committee.
4. Exit Point
Students completing the requirements for the Certificate in Liberal Arts may exit with that award.

Elective Units
Arts Elective Units may be chosen from units listed in the Schedule of Unit Offerings for the Bachelor of Arts degree subject to campus availability, unit limitations and provided that prerequisite requirements are met.

Students seeking a pathway to the Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Arts must select three Arts electives from each of two ACU approved secondary teaching areas in the Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Arts, subject to campus availability, unit limitations and provided that prerequisite requirements are met.
