EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Admission Requirements
An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy that includes meeting a minimum ATAR requirement.
International applicants must meet the English Language Requirements as defined in the Admissions to Coursework Programs Policy.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12, or equivalent:
New South Wales
- Assumed knowledge: 2 units of English (any) (Band 3), Mathematics (other than Mathematics General 2) for study in Mathematics (Band 3)
Queensland
- Prerequisites: English (4, SA).
Victoria
- Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English.
- Assumed knowledge: Mathematical Methods Units 3 and 4 for study in Mathematics.

2. Definitions
'Major': 80 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at introductory level, at least 40 cp at 200-level and at least 20 cp from 300-level.
'Minor': 40 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 20 cp at advanced level.
3. Requirements for Completion
3.1 To qualify for the degree, a student must complete:
240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 160 cp from:
- 2 Arts Majors; or
- 1 Arts Major and 2 Arts Minors;
- 10 cp from BA Degree Capstone units: HUMA330 Community Engagement: Placement or HUMA331 Big Ideas: Social Enterprise and Innovation;
- 50 cp from Electives1
- 20 cp from Core Curriculum Units;
Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.
3.2 A student may, with the approval of the Course Coordinator, undertake cross-institutional study in order to satisfy the requirements, in whole or in part, of:
- a Major or a Minor in a language other than English; and/or
- a Major in any discipline, where the student has completed a Minor in that discipline at this University.
4. Progression Requirements
Unless otherwise specified, students must complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100-level) in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced level units (200 or 300-level) in that sequence. Any additional prerequisites for individual units are shown in brackets after the unit in the Schedule of Unit Offerings.
In all aspects of the progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator and bound by decisions of the School Committee.
5. Exit Point
Students who have met the requirements of the Diploma in Liberal Arts can exit with this award.
