BMSC201 - Communicating Ideas in Science
As future science professionals students will be required to communicate their work to audiences with different levels of science knowledge and with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Students undertaking this unit will learn different methods of communication using visual, written and oral techniques. The preparation of oral and written presentations to both lay and scientific experts, with ranges of philosophy, will be taught. Knowledge will be applied to the production of oral and written presentations ensuring the effective transmission of clear scientific key messages to various audiences. Students will be able to translate acquired scientific communication skills to other fields of communication including interview processes, other studied disciplines, and also in real life. The aim of this unit is to enable students to develop skills in communicating science concepts using a variety of media and to a variety of audiences.
