EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Admission Requirements
An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12, or equivalent:
New South Wales
- Prerequisites: English (Standard) (Band 2) or English (Advanced) (Band 2) or EAL (Band 3)
Victoria
- Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English.
International applicants need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
2. Definitions
"Minor": 40 cp in prescribed units in one discipline, normally including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 20 cp at advanced level.
3. Requirements for Completion of the Degree
To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 320 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 150 cp from Psychology Specified Units;
- 40 cp from Minor units;
- 10 cp from PHIL100 (Students who undertake a Minor in Philosophy may substitute 10cp from General Electives);
- 10 cp from Psychology Elective Units;
- 10 cp from Psychology Community Engagement Unit;
- 20 cp from University Core Curriculum Units;
- 30 cp from Specified Honours Units;
- 40 cp from Honours Thesis Units;
- 10 cp from Fourth Year Elective Units.
4. Progression Requirements
Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.
Progression Requirements for students enrolled in the BPsych(Hons)
To progress to the third year of the BPsych(Hons), students must maintain a GPA of 5.75 on the ACU seven point scale in the first two years of this course. Students who do not meet this requirement will be transferred into the Bachelor of Psychological Science.
To be eligible to continue to the Honours year i.e. the fourth year of this course, a student must maintain a grade point average of at least 5.75 on the ACU seven point scale in the third year of this course. In addition, students will be required to achieve at least four (4) Distinctions in the psychology units undertaken in the second and third year of the program. Students who do not meet these requirements will be transferred into the Bachelor of Psychological Science.
Progression Requirements for students transferring from the BPsychSc
Students in the Bachelor of Psychological Science (BpsychSc) who have a GPA of 5.75 on the ACU seven point scale at the end of their second year may be eligible to transfer into the BPsych(Hons).
Students who transfer to the BPsych(Hons) must then maintain their GPA of 5.75 on the ACU seven point scale in their third year in order to be eligible to continue to the Honours year. In addition, students will be required to achieve at least four (4) Distinctions in the psychology units undertaken in the second and third year of the program. Students who do not meet these requirements might be eligible to exit with a Bachelor of Psychological Science.
