1. Admission Requirements
An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy that includes meeting a minimum ATAR requirement..
Assumed knowledge includes minimum requirements in English and Mathematics.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must meet any additional prerequisite requirements imposed by state jurisdictions.
International applicants need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed at year 12 level, or equivalent:
Australian Capital Territory

- Two units of English Band 4
- Two units of Mathematics Band 4
Queensland
- Prerequisites: English (4, SA)
- Assumed Knowledge: Mathematics A (4, SA).
Victoria
- Prerequisites: English: Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English
- Assumed Knowledge:Mathematics: Two units of Mathematics (any)
2. Additional Approvals
Requirements for working with children: All students enrolled must have the appropriate approvals before they may enter a classroom. These are: Blue Card (Qld) or Working with Children Check (ACT, NSW and Vic), or equivalent requirements in other states and territories. International students must bring police check documentation from their own countries. To meet the requirements for working in settings other than schools, a National Police check may be required. All students who have lived in another country for 12 months or more must provide a police check from that country for that period.
3. Requirements For Completion Of The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Birth to Five Years) Degree1
To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 320 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 90 cp from Education Studies;
- 20 cp from Core Curriculum Units;
- 70 cp from Curriculum Foundation Studies;
- 80 cp from Curriculum and Pedagogy;
- 30 cp from Electives;
- 30 cp of Prescribed Professional Experience Units (one 10 cp unit and one 20 cp unit)
and - One Community Engagement Unit (0 cp).
4. Exit Point
A student who has successfully completed the following requirements may exit from the course with that qualification:1
- Certificate in Educational Studies: 40 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings
- Diploma in Educational Studies (Tertiary Preparation): 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings
- Bachelor of Educational Studies: 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings.
