EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Admission Requirements
An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy that includes meeting a minimum ATAR requirement.
International students must meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12, or equivalent:
Victoria
- Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English.
2. Requirements for Completion of the Degree
To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 210 cp from specified units including:
- 80 cp from International Development Studies major;
- 40 cp from specified Global Studies units;
- 40 cp from Arts Minor in1:
- Communication; or
- Economics; or
- Media; or
- Politics and International Relations; or
- Sociology; or
- Youth Work.
- 40 cp from Fieldwork Units2; and
- 10 cp from SOCS237 People Count: Researching Quantitatively
- 20 cp from Core Curriculum units;
- 10 cp from Arts Electives.
3. Exit Point
3.1 The Associate Degree in International Development Studies is offered as an exit point from the Bachelor degree only.
3.2 A student who has completed the following requirements and 160 cp may exit from the course with the Associate Degree in International Development Studies:
- Up to 160 cp from core units including:
- at least 40 cp from International Development Studies units;
- 40 cp from Global Studies units;
- 30 cp from Management and Legal Studies units;
- 20 cp from Core Curriculum Units; and
- Up to 30 cp from Elective units.

Arts Electives
Students may choose 10 cp from the disciplines listed in the Schedule of Unit Offerings for the Bachelor of Arts degree. Or other electives may be approved by the Course Coordinator.
- Subject to campus availability.
- With the permission of the course coordinator, a student may substitute DVST304 with DVST305: Development Education Special Project. This substitution will normally only be granted where a) international travel is not possible due to natural disaster or political unrest or b) where for major health reasons or pressing personal circumstances a student cannot travel overseas.
