EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Admission Requirements
An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
International applicants must also meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites:
- Bachelor degree in Education; or equivalent; or
- Bachelor degree in an area other than Education and a recognised teaching qualification; or
- Bachelor degree in an area other than Education and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies or equivalent.
2. Requirements for Completion
To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 120 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 20 cp from Core Education Units
- At least 10 cp from Research Units1
- 20 cp from the Capstone Project Unit
- Up to 70 cp from the Schedule of Offerings with a maximum of 40 cp from Elective Education units
2.2 To qualify for the Master of Education degree with a named specialisation in:
- Autism Spectrum Studies (not offered in 2018)
- Career Development
- Early Childhood
- Literacy Intervention
- Mathematics Leadership
- Middle School Mathematics
- Safeguarding Children and Young People
- Special Education
- Student Wellbeing
- TESOL
A student must complete 120 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 20 cp from Core Education Units
- At least 10 cp from Research Units
- 20 cp from the Capstone Project Unit (Project must relate to specialisation)
- 40 cp from listed Specialisation Units (Related to the named specialisation)
- Up to 30 cp from the Schedule of Offerings
2.3 To qualify for the Master of Education degree with a named specialisation in Allied School Psychology a student must complete 120 cp from the Schedule of Offerings consisting of:
- 20 cp from Core Education Units
- At least 10 cp from Research Units
- 20 cp from Capstone Project Unit (related to Allied School Psychology)
- 60 cp from Allied School Psychology specialisation
- Up to 10 cp from Schedule of Offerings including those listed as electives.
3. Exit Point
3.1 A student who has completed the requirements prescribed for the Graduate Certificate in Education may exit with that award.
