EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Admission Requirements
An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12, or equivalent:
Victoria
- Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English.
2. Definitions
Major: 80 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 60 cp at advanced level.
3. Completion Requirements
To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 90 cp from specified Youth Work units;
- 80 cp from a Sociology major including all Core Units OR 40 cp from Youth Work Sociology minor AND 40 cp from Counselling minor;
- 20 cp from Core Curriculum Units;
- 10 cp from HIST106 Australian Indigenous Peoples: Past and Present;
- 10 cp from COUN106 Introduction to Counselling.
- 20 cp from Practicum Units.
- 10 cp from Electives.
Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.
4. Progression Requirements
Students need to normally complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100-level) in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced level units (200 or 300-level) unless the unit is nominated in the program map.
High achieving students, who meet the requirements for Honours at the end of their degree may apply for Honours in the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree.
5. Exit Point
- Students who have successfully completed 40 cp of units in Youth Work specified units; Youth Work core units or Core Curriculum units, may exit with a Certificate in Youth Work.
- Students who have successfully completed 80 cp of units in Youth Work specified units; Youth Work core units or Core Curriculum units, may exit with a Diploma in Youth Work.
