1. Admission Requirements
Prior to 1 March 2016, an applicant must also comply with the Admission Rules.
From 1 March 2016, an applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
1.1 To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Speech Pathology, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent:
New South Wales
Prerequisites: English (Advanced) or English (Standard) (Band 4) or English as a Second Language (Band 4); plus at least one of biology, chemistry, physics, or personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE).
Queensland
Prerequisites: English (4, SA) and at least one of biology, chemistry, physics, health education or physical education (4, SA).
Victoria
Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in any other English; and a study score of at least 25 in one of biology, chemistry, physics, health and human development, or physical education.
Prior to 1 March 2016, International students need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admissions Rules.
From 1 March 2016, International students need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
1.2 English Proficiency requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English must have either:
- successfully completed at least two full-time years of study in secondary; or
- higher education where the medium of study was English; or
- demonstrated their English proficiency – IELTS Overall Score: 7.0
- Individual score of 6.5 in all tests.
2. Completion Requirements
To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 320 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 20 cp from University Core Units;
- 40 cp from Inter-professional Units;
- 150 cp from Speech Pathology Theory Units;
- 110 cp from Integration and Practice Units.
3. Admission requirements for Honours
To be eligible to apply for admission to the Honours program, a student must have completed 160cp from years 1 and 2 of the Bachelor of Speech Pathology pass degree, with a grade point average of at least 5.5.
4. Requirements for Completion of Honours
To qualify for the Bachelor of Speech Pathology Honours degree a student must complete 320cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 20 cp from University Core Units
- 40 cp from Inter-professional Units;
- 130 cp from Honours Speech Pathology Theory Units;
- 90 cp from Honours Integration and Practice Units
- 40 cp from Honours units
5. Progression within the Course
Students normally complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100-level) in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced level units (200 or 300-level) in that sequence.
In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator and bound by decisions of the School Committee.
