Assumed knowledge: ACT - English advanced and at least a major in mathematical applications with grades of C or higher. NSW – two units of English Band 4 and two units of Mathematics Band 4.
Queensland
Prerequisites: English (4, SA).
Recommended study: Mathematics A.
Victoria
Prerequisites: Units 1 and 2 – two units (any study combination) of general mathematics or mathematical methods (either) or Units 3 and 4 mathematics (any). Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English.

International applicants must meet the English Language Requirements as defined in the Admissions Rules.
2. Requirements For Completion Of The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Birth to Five Years) Degree1
To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 320 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 90 cp from Education Studies;
- 20 cp from University Core Units;
- 70 cp from Curriculum Foundation Studies;
- 70 cp from Curriculum and Pedagogy;
- 40 cp from Electives;
- 30 cp of Prescribed Professional Experience Units (one 10 cp unit and one 20 cp unit)
and - One Community Engagement Unit (0 cp).
3. Exit Point A student who has completed the following requirements may exit from the course with the Bachelor of Educational Studies:
- 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 90 cp from Education Studies;
- 20 cp from University Core Units
- 130 cp from Curriculum Foundation Studies and Curriculum and Pedagogy;
and - One Community Engagement Unit (0 cp).

Electives
Students may enrol in elective units as approved by the Course Coordinator. Students entering without the Diploma of Children’s Services/Early Childhood Education and Care will be required to select Infant and Toddlers Studies as one.
1 Requirements for working with children: All students enrolled must have the appropriate approvals before they may enter a classroom. These are: Blue Card (Qld), Working with Vulnerable People (ACT) or Working with Children Check (NSW and Vic). International students must bring police check documentation from their own countries. Australian students who have lived in another country for 12 months or more must provide a police check from that country for that period.
2 For Indigenous students undertaking the course, the unit codes will begin with A in place of the first letter of the unit codes listed in the Schedule of Unit Offerings. Unit codes beginning with A are available only to Indigenous students.
