EFTSL value of units: All 20 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.25. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have the minimum requirements of:
- a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) or relevant discipline, with a minimum of second class Honours;
and - Research proposal indicating alignment with the mission of the Institute for Social Justice
An applicant must also comply with the Admission Rules.
International applicants need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admissions Rules.
2. Requirements for Completion of the Doctorate
To qualify for the doctorate, a student must complete 320 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings consisting of:
- 80 cp from Coursework units
- 240 cp from PhD Thesis units.1
3. Requirements for Completion of the Graduate Diploma in Social and Political Thought (Exit Point only)
A student who has completed the following requirements for the Graduate Diploma in Social and Political Thought, may exit from the course with that award
- 80 cp from Coursework units

1 Students must successfully complete the 1st year of coursework units with a minimum GPA of 6 if they are to progress to the PhD thesis. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Institute Manager, Institute for Social Justice.
