EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Admission Requirements
An applicant must also comply with the Admission Rules.
To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Laws, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent:
New South Wales
For 2014 and 2015 only - Recommended: English (any)
For 2016 onwards - Prerequisites: English (Advanced)
Victoria
Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English.
Applicants whose first language is not English must have either:
- successfully completed at least two full-time years of study in secondary or higher education where the medium of study was English; or
- demonstrated their English proficiency, as set out below.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Overall Score: 7.0
Individual score of 6.5 in all tests
Test of English as a Foreign Language - Academic (TOEFL)
Internet based total of 100: min 25 writing, speaking, reading and listening.
2. Definitions
“Major”: 60 cp in prescribed units in one discipline, including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 40 cp at advanced level.
“Minor”: 40 cp in prescribed units in one discipline, including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 20 cp at advanced level.
A Major or Minor in Christian Practice must include THCP100 The Signs of the Times as a core unit.
2. Completion Requirements
To qualify for the Pass degree, a student must complete 400 cp that meet all of the following requirements:
1. For the Theology component, a total of 160cp from theology units from the Schedule of Unit Offerings and/or philosophy units from the Schedule of Unit Offerings for the Bachelor of Arts, including:
- 60 cp from a Major in one of the following disciplines:
- Biblical Studies
- Christian Thought
- Christian Practice
- 80 cps (two minor specializations)1 from one of the following:
- (b) for a student who completes a Major in Biblical Studies:
- 40 cp from a Minor in Christian Thought; and
- 40 cp from a Minor in Christian Practice, Philosophy or Study of Religions;
- (b) for a student who completes a Major in Christian Thought:
- 40 cp from a Minor in Biblical Studies; and
- 40 cp from a Minor in Christian Practice, Philosophy or Study of Religions;
- (b) for a student who completes a Major in Christian Practice:
- 40 cp from a Minor in Biblical Studies; and
- 40 cp from a Minor in Christian Thought;
- 20 cp from units identified as Theology Program Core Units
- 20 cp of University Core units, and
- a maximum of 100 cp may be from 100-level units.
2. For the Law component
- 240 cp selected in accordance with the requirements for the Bachelor of Laws, consisting of:
- 230 cp from Law Core Units;
- 10 cp LAWS400 Canon Law; AND
- Four 0 cp Pro Bono/Legal Professional Experience Units–one unit in the second and subsequent years of the degree.
