It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Faculty of Education (ACU education) at Australian Catholic University (ACU).
One of the leading providers of quality teacher education in Australia, ACU education offers courses which meet the rapidly changing needs of today’s educators – prospective teachers, practicing educators and leaders, education researchers and related professionals.
ACU’s distinctive concern for social justice and equity drives our commitment to nurture graduates who are not only highly competent teachers, but also individuals capable of effecting positive change in their local and broader communities.
Locally, ACU Education offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education programs. We pride ourselves on our teaching, and work with our partners in schools, early childhood settings, communities, agencies and governments, to constantly align teaching practices with real world experiences and provide students with a seamless transition from the classroom to the profession.
On an international scale, we engage with overseas educational organisations in East Timor, Mauritius and Pakistan to deliver capacity building programs for disadvantaged communities.
With a clear focus on preparing teachers for the future, our courses encourage pre-service teachers to understand and apply current pedagogical knowledge to a range of educational practices. Our graduates are well positioned for successful careers in government, independent and Catholic education sectors.
Our postgraduate programs such as Educational Leadership and Religious Education provide a distinct edge to professional educators seeking a robust and challenging program designed to build on previous learning and experiences.
Ranked ‘at world standard’ in the area of curriculum and pedagogy research, ACU has key research strengths in Early Childhood Education, Educational leadership, Religious education, Mathematics education, Literacy education and Wellbeing and Inclusive education. Our research programs are concerned with the reflective application of advanced knowledge to problems of professional practice. Our Master of Education (Research) provides opportunities to students wishing to pursue a research pathway towards an EdD or PhD.
We welcome you to experience the unique approach that the Faculty brings to the important work of educating our teachers and education leaders for the future; teachers and education leaders who are committed to a more just and equitable society and a sustainable environment.
