Requirements for working with children: All students enrolled must have the appropriate approvals before they may enter a classroom. These are: Blue Card (Qld), Working with Vulnerable People (ACT) or Working with Children Check (NSW and Vic). International students must bring police check documentation from their own countries. Australian students who have lived in another country for 12 months or more must provide a police check from that country for that period.
Arts majors and minors must be in the discipline areas in which the Curriculum Studies units are undertaken.
Students wanting to teach History at secondary level in NSW should understand that they need to differentiate between Ancient History and Modern History. It is recommended that students majoring in History undertake at least six units of Modern History, four units of Ancient History. Students undertaking a minor in History should undertake all four units in Modern History.
Students wanting to teach Religious Education are advised to consult with their Course Coordinator to ensure enrolment in the correct unit sequence.
cp are to be taken from one Curriculum and Teaching Studies area which builds on the discipline minor already taken.
To be eligible to enrol in a Curriculum and Teaching Studies sequence, a student must either have satisfactorily completed the prerequisite study prescribed for that Curriculum and Teaching Study or be able to demonstrate knowledge or skills approved by the Course Coordinator as equivalent. In the case of Religious Education, the designated Theological Studies units provide co-requisites.
