EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Admission Requirements1
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed one of :
-
- an undergraduate degree in any discipline; and
- a Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies or Graduate Diploma in Theological Studies including THBS501 Biblical Studies and THCT500 Foundations of Christian Faith (or equivalent); or
- an undergraduate degree in any discipline; and
- an undergraduate degree in Theology or equivalent; or
- a Bachelor of Education including at least 30 cp in introductory Biblical Studies and Theology units and 20 cp in Religious Education units or equivalent.
2. Requirements for Completion of the Degree
2.1 To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- in the case of a student seeking to qualify for a named specialisation:
- at least 40 cp from units from that specialisation, which may include project and/or special studies units where the content and assessment clearly relate to the area of the specialisation;
- at least 10 cp from a Project Unit, if not selected in accordance with Rule 2.1 (a) (i);
- the balance from other units;
or
- at least 40 cp from units from that specialisation, which may include project and/or special studies units where the content and assessment clearly relate to the area of the specialisation;
- in any other case:
- at least 10 cp from a Project Unit;
- up to 70 cp from other units
2.2 A student wishing to proceed to the Master of Theology (Research) must include a 20 cp Project Unit and Thel619 Introduction to Theological and Philosophical Research and obtain a minimum grade of Credit in each.
3. Exit Point
3.1 A student who gained admission in accordance with Rule 1(a) and who has completed at least 40 cp in accordance with Rule 2 may exit with the Graduate Diploma in Theological Studies.
3.2 A student who gained admission in accordance with Rule 1(b) or (c) and who has completed at least 40 cp in accordance with Rule 2 may exit with the Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies.
