1. Admission Requirements1

1.1 To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent.

New South Wales
Assumed knowledge: Nil

Queensland
Prerequisites: English (4, SA).

Victoria
Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English.

1.2 To be eligible for admission to the Practice Leadership specialisation, an applicant must have completed the requirements set out in Rule 1.1 at a high level of academic achievement2, and demonstrate leadership capacity3. Students who fail to maintain participation in suitable leadership activities4 and a minimum GPA of 5.5 will be withdrawn from the specialisation Practice Leadership and transferred to the Bachelor of Nursing degree.

2. Requirements for Completion of the Degrees

2.1 To qualify for the Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Business Administration pass degree, a student must complete 360 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 230 cp in Nursing units, consisting of:
    1. 100 cp from Inter-professional Learning Units;
    2. 60 cp from Nursing Theory Units;
    3. 60 cp from Clinical Nursing Practice Units;
    4. 10 cp from a Clinical Nursing Specialty Elective;
  2. 130 cp in Business units, consisting of:
    1. 120 cp from Core Business Units;
    2. 10 cp from Business Electives;
  3. BIPX100 Professional Experience A.

2.2 Practice Leadership units may only be taken by students undertaking the specialisation in Practice Leadership.

2.3 To qualify for the Bachelor of Nursing (Practice Leadership), a student must complete 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings including the eight units designated as Practice Leadership (NRPL), consisting of:

  1. 110 cp from Inter-professional Learning units;
  2. 60 cp from Nursing Theory units, including 40 cp which are designated Practice Leadership;
  3. 60 cp from Clinical Nursing Practice units, including 40 cp which are designated Practice Leadership;
  4. 10cp from a Clinical Nursing Specialty Elective unit;

3. Progression within the Course

Students normally complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100 level) in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced level units (200 or 300 level) in that sequence.
In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator and bound by decisions of the School Committee.
