1. Admission Requirements1
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12, or equivalent:
New South Wales
Assumed knowledge: Mathematics (other than General Mathematics) for study in Mathematics.
Recommended studies: Visual Arts for study in Visual Arts.
Queensland
Prerequisites: English (4, SA).
Victoria
Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English.
2. Definitions
'Major': 80 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 60 cp at advanced level.
'Minor': 40 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 20 cp at advanced level.
Specialisation: An area of special or focused study or sub-discipline within a course, which is recognised on the student's testamur and transcript. Normally a specialisation consists of not less than one-half of the total credit points required for the award.
3. Requirements for Completion of the Pass Degree
3.1 To qualify for the pass degree, a student must complete:
- 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 160 cp from:
- 2 Majors; or
- 1 Major and 2 Minors;
- at least 20 cp from Program Core Units2;
- not more than 60 cp from Electives3;
- 160 cp from:
- ARTS232 Learning in the Community4.
3.2 A student may, with the approval of the Course Coordinator, undertake cross-institutional study in order to satisfy the requirements, in whole or in part, of:
- a Major or a Minor in a language other than English; and/or
- a Major in any discipline, where the student has completed a Minor in that discipline at this University.
4. Requirements for Completion of a Specialisation
4.1 Business and Communication Studies (Strathfield/North Sydney only)
A student may complete a Specialisation in Business and Communication in accordance with the following requirements from the Schedule of Unit Offerings:
Completion of:
- 160 cp from:
-
- a Major in Business Studies;
- a Minor in Communication; and
- a Minor in one of Computing, Economics, Mathematics or Psychology;
or
-
- a Major in Economics;
- a Minor in Communication; and
- a Minor in Business Studies;
-
- at least 20 cp from Program Core Units5;
- not more than 60 cp from Electives6; and
- ARTS232 Learning in the Community7.
4.2 Psychology (Brisbane, Melbourne and Strathfield)
A student may complete a Specialisation in Psychology in accordance with the following requirements from the Schedule of Unit Offerings:
Completion of:
- a 120 cp APAC accredited sequence in Psychology;
- a Minor from any other discipline from the Schedule of Unit Offerings;
- at least 20 cp from Program Core Units5;
- not more than 60 cp from Electives6; and
- ARTS232 Learning in the Community7
