Schedule C - Scholarships and Bursaries Available at Various Levels

1. Up to 25 Scholarships will be available to commencing undergraduate or postgraduate international students each year, consisting of:

  1. five scholarships equivalent to the full-time fees1 for the recipient’s course of study; and
  2. 20 scholarships equivalent to one-half of the full-time fees1 for the recipient’s course of study2.

2. Each scholarship will be awarded for the duration of the recipient’s course, subject to satisfactory academic progress.

3. Applicants must:

  1. be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand;
  2. have gained and formally accepted a place in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at Australian Catholic University (ACU);
  3. attend at the relevant ACU campus as a full-time student;
  4. not be in receipt of another major scholarship or award3;
  5. not be attending ACU as a Study Abroad or Exchange student.

4. Applications should include:

  1. details of the applicant’s course of study at ACU;
  2. evidence of academic merit including achievement of an average of at least 80% across the applicant’s secondary study4 (for undergraduate students) or undergraduate study (for postgraduate students), whether at ACU or elsewhere.

5.1 The Scholarships may be awarded each year on the recommendation of a Selection Committee consisting of the Dean, Internationalisation, the Dean of each Faculty, the Executive Dean of Graduate Studies and the Manager, International Education Office.

5.2 In considering applications, in addition to the eligibility and selection criteria, the Selection Committee may give consideration to:

  1. the diversity of the source countries of applicants and of the courses in which they are enrolled (including across a spread of undergraduate and postgraduate coursework and research programs and campuses); and
  2. in the case of applicants undertaking research degrees, the alignment of the applicant’s intended research with the research strengths of the University.

1For students in undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programs, the scholarship relieves the recipient from payment of the whole or half of the course fees, according to the scholarship awarded. It does not provide a living allowance.
For students in research programs who are also in receipt of an Australian government-funded tuition fee scholarship, the scholarship provides a living allowance of equivalent value to that of an APA stipend in the case of a full scholarship.
For all recipients, the scholarship does not cover visa application costs, Overseas Student Health Cover, air fares, accommodation, excursions, text or reference books, conferences or other costs the student may incur in pursuing his/her course or in travelling to or from Australia and the campus at which he/she is studying.
2Half scholarships are only available to students in undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programs, and are not available to students undertaking research programs.
3Any scholarship or award the value of which, in combination with the value of the ACU International Student Scholarship, exceeds the tuition fee for the full ACU course to which the student is admitted.
4Year 12 equivalent results.
