EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

1. Admission Requirements1

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12, or equivalent:

New South Wales
Assumed knowledge: Mathematics (other than General Mathematics) for study in Mathematics.
Recommended studies: Visual Arts for study in Visual Arts.

Queensland
Prerequisites: English (4, SA).

Victoria
Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English.

2. Definitions

'Major': 80 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 60 cp at advanced level.

'Minor': 40 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, normally including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 20 cp at advanced level.

Specialisation: An area of special or focused study or sub-discipline within a course, which is recognised on the student’s testamur and transcript. Normally a specialisation consists of not less than one-half of the total credit points required for the award.

3. Requirements for Completion of the Pass Degree

3.1 To qualify for the pass degree, a student must complete:

  1. 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
    1. 160 cp from:
      1. 2 Majors; or
      2. 1 Major and 2 Minors;
    2. at least 20 cp from Mission-focused Units2;
    3. not more than 60 cp from Electives3;
    and
  2. ARTS232 Learning in the Community4.

3.2 A student may, with the approval of the Course Coordinator, undertake cross-institutional study in order to satisfy the requirements, in whole or in part, of:

  1. a Major or a Minor in a language other than English; and/or
  2. a Major in any discipline, where the student has completed a Minor in that discipline at this University.

4. Requirements for Completion of a Specialisation

4.1 Business and Communication Studies (Strathfield/North Sydney only)

A student may complete a Specialisation in Business and Communication in accordance with the following requirements from the Schedule of Unit Offerings:
Completion of:

  1. 160 cp from:
    1.  
      1. a Major in Business Studies;
      2. a Minor in Communication; and
      3. a Minor in one of Computing, Economics, Mathematics or Psychology;

      or

    2.  
      1. a Major in Economics;
      2. a Minor in Communication; and
      3. a Minor in Business Studies;

  2. at least 20 cp from Mission-focused Units5;
  3. not more than 60 cp from Electives6; and
  4. ARTS232 Learning in the Community7.

4.2 Creative Arts and Culture (Brisbane and Melbourne only)

A student may complete a Specialisation in Creative Arts and Culture in accordance with the following requirements from the Schedule of Unit Offerings:
Completion of:

  1. either
    1. two Majors selected from Drama, Literature, Media*, Music or Visual Arts;

      or
    2.  
      1. a Major in one of Drama, Literature, Media*, Music or Visual Arts; and
      2. two Minors selected from Communication, Drama, Literature, Media*, Music or Visual Arts;
      3. at least 20 cp from Mission-focused Units5;
      4. not more than 60 cp from Electives6; and
      5. ARTS232 Learning in the Community7
        *Victoria only.

4.3 Psychology (Brisbane, Melbourne and Strathfield)

A student may complete a Specialisation in Psychology in accordance with the following requirements from the Schedule of Unit Offerings:
Completion of:

  1. a 120 cp APAC accredited sequence in Psychology;
  2. a Minor from any other discipline from the Schedule of Unit Offerings;
  3. at least 20 cp from Mission-focused Units5;
  4. not more than 60 cp from Electives6; and
  5. ARTS232 Learning in the Community7
5. Unless otherwise specified, students must complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100-level) in an approved sequence before undertaking advanced level units (200 or 300-level) in that sequence. Any additional prerequisites for individual units are shown in brackets after the unit in the Schedule of Unit Offerings.
