APIS100 Introduction to Islam

Teaching Organisation 12 week-semester or equivalent in intensive block mode.
This unit is equivalent to 150 hours of focused learning. These may include lectures, seminars and workshops, and mixed modes.
The unit aims to provide students with a basic introduction to Islam. This will include a study of conditions in its place of origin as well as of the events that took place in its formative and classical periods. The unit also concentrates on the system of Islamic belief and practices together with the life and problems of Muslims in the modern period.
