EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Admission Requirements1
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent.
New South Wales
Recommended studies: English advanced, personal development, health and physical education; mathematics plus one of biology, chemistry or physics.
Queensland
Recommended studies: English, physical education and mathematics plus one of biology, physics, chemistry, science 21 and health education.
Victoria
Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English, and a study score of at least 25 in one of mathematics (any), biology, chemistry, outdoor and environmental studies, psychology, physical education or physics.
2. Requirements for Completion of the Pass Degree
To qualify for the pass degree, a student must complete:
- 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 120 cp from Core Units;
- 70 cp from Specialisation Units;
- 10 cp from Professional Experience 3;
- 40 cp from Electives;
- Professional Experience 1 and 2 (total of 120 hours).
3. Admission Requirements – Honours Degree1
To be eligible to apply for admission to the honours degree course, a student must have completed a relevant Bachelor pass degree and attained grades of Distinction or above in at least half of the graded units at second and third year levels, or completed at least one year’s experience in a related area of exercise and/or sports science.
4. Requirements for Completion of the Honours Degree
To qualify for the honours degree a student must, in addition to satisfying the requirements of the pass degree, complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Honours Units.
5. Progression within the Course
Students normally complete:
- 100-level units before undertaking related 200-level units, and 200-level units before undertaking 300-level units; and
- the Core Units in Exercise Science (other than EXSC300 Ethics, Law and Exercise Science Practice) before commencing specialisation sequences.
In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator and bound by decisions of the School Committee.
