EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Admission Requirements1
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites:
- Bachelor degree in nursing or equivalent2; eligibility for registration as a nurse in the relevant Australian state/territory;
- Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing (or equivalent) in a field of clinical practice relevant to the student’s chosen area of nurse practitioner practice;
- a minimum of three years’ full-time equivalent clinical practice experience in the nominated specialty;
- demonstrated recent and relevant nursing practice satisfactory to the relevant Head of School, ie, a minimum of one year full-time equivalent clinical experience in an advanced practice role in the clinical area in which the nurse practitioner candidate intends to practice;
- current employment in an advanced practice role for the duration of the course; and
- a letter of support from the nurse practitioner candidate’s employer.
2. Requirements for Completion of the Degree
To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 40 cp from core Theory Units; and
- 40 cp from core Practice Units.
The core Practice Units will be based in the student’s own area of clinical practice, (ie the field in which they intend to practice as a Nurse Practitioner).
