EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

1. Admission Requirements¹

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must normally have completed a three-year post-secondary degree or equivalent, including the required background studies in either two curriculum and teaching study areas or one double curriculum and teaching study area, according to the local state registration authority requirements and relevant to the subject specialist areas available with the course.

2. Requirements for Completion of the Graduate Diploma^{2, 3}

To qualify for the Graduate Diploma, a student must complete 100 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

1. 40 cp from Education Studies;
2. 40 cp from Curriculum Studies, consisting of either
   1. 20 cp in each of two teaching subjects;
      
      or
      
      
   2. 40 cp from one teaching subject;
      
      or
      
      
   3. 40 cp from the Brisbane campus Curriculum Studies;
      
      or (in special circumstances)
      
      
   4. 20 cp from one teaching subject and 20 cp from Electives;
      
      and
      
      
3. 20 cp from Professional Experience Units consisting of a minimum of 45 supervised teaching days.

Professional Experience

¹ A student must also comply with the Admission Rules.
² Religious Education and Theology Units: Completion of the Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) and the Graduate Certificate in Religious Education courses, in addition to giving full State accreditation, allows teachers to satisfy requirements for teaching in Catholic or Lutheran schools or State or other Independent schools.
Lutheran Strand: Students who wish to complete the requirements for teaching in Lutheran schools must register and enrol with Australian Lutheran College. The Lutheran units will replace units in the normal Graduate Certificate in Religious Education course and Australian Catholic University will credit the units towards the completion of the Graduate Diploma.
³ Requirements for working with children: All students enrolled must have the appropriate approvals before they may enter a classroom. These are: Blue Card (Qld), Working with Children Check (ACT, Vic) and Prohibited Employment Declaration (NSW). International students must bring police check documentation from their own countries.
