EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

1. Admission Requirements1

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed one of the following prerequisites:

  1. four year Bachelor degree in a human services discipline (eg psychology, education, social work, sociology, welfare studies, youth work or related discipline); or
  2.  
    1. three year Bachelor degree in a human services discipline; and
    2. three years’ work experience in human services; or
  3.  
    1. three year Bachelor degree in another discipline; and
    2. Postgraduate Certificate in Human Services or Graduate Certificate in Catholic Identity and Leadership; and
    3. five years’ work experience in human services; or
  4.  
    1. three year Advanced Diploma in Welfare or equivalent; and
    2. five years’ work experience in human services.

2. Requirements for Completion of the Degree

2.1 To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 60 cp from Core Units; and
  2. 20 cp from Electives.

2.2 A student who has completed one of the following may be granted up to 40 cp advanced standing:

  1.  
    1. a four year degree in human services; and
    2. a Postgraduate Certificate in Human Services or Graduate Certificate in Catholic Identity and Leadership;
  2.  
    1. a three year degree in human services;
    2. three years’ experience in human services; and
    3. a Postgraduate Certificate in Human Services or Graduate Certificate in Catholic Identity and Leadership;
  3.  
    1. a three year degree in any discipline or three year Advanced Diploma in Welfare or equivalent;
    2. five years’ experience in human services; and
    3. a Postgraduate Certificate in Human Services or Graduate Certificate in Catholic Identity and Leadership.

3. Exit Point

A student who has completed the requirements prescribed for the Postgraduate Certificate in Human Services may exit from the course with that award.
