Minimum duration: 4 years full-time or equivalent part-time

EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

1. Definitions

“Major”: 80 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 60 cp at advanced level.

“Minor”: 40 cp in prescribed units in one discipline or approved interdisciplinary area, including at least 10 cp at introductory level and at least 20 cp at advanced level.

2. Requirements for Completion of the Degree18

To qualify for the degree, a student must complete:

1. 320 cp consisting of: 

  1. 160 cp in accordance with the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree, consisting of19:    
    1. 80 cp from 1 Major in Computing;
    2. 40 cp from 1 Minor in Technology; and
    3. 40 cp from 1 other Minor;
  2. 160 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:      
    1. 80 cp from Education Studies;
    2. 60 cp from Curriculum Studies;
    3. 20 cp from Internship or equivalent;

and

2.

  1. 2 Professional Experience units; and
  2. 1 Community Engagement Program unit.

18 Requirements for working with children: All students enrolled must have the appropriate approvals before they may enter a classroom. These are: Blue Card (Qld), Working with Children Background Check (ACT, Vic, NSW). International students should check this with the Course Co-ordinator and may need to bring documentation from their own countries.
19 The minor must be in the discipline areas in which the Curriculum Studies units are undertaken; where two minors are undertaken, the second need not be in a Curriculum Studies area.
20 20 cp are to be taken from either Technology or the area of curriculum and teaching studies units which builds on the other discipline minor sequence already taken.
To be eligible to enrol in a Curriculum and Teaching Studies sequence, a student must either have satisfactorily completed the prerequisite study prescribed for that Curriculum and Teaching Study or be able to demonstrate knowledge or skills approved by the Course Co-ordinator as equivalent. In the case of Religious Education, the designated Theological Studies units provide co-requisites.
