1. Requirements for Completion of the Bachelor of Education (Primary) (Indigenous Studies) Degree12

To qualify for the degree, a student must complete:

1. 320 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 160 cp from successful completion of the Associate Degree in Indigenous Education course;
  2. 50 cp from Curriculum Foundation Studies consisting of:
    1. 20 cp from Indigenous Studies;
    2. 10 cp from Mathematics;
    3. 20 cp from Theology or approved elective alternatives;
  3. 50 cp from Education Studies;
  4. 60 cp from Curriculum and Pedagogy;

    and

2.

  1. 3 Professional Experience units;
  2. 1 Community Engagement unit.

2. Exit point

2.1 The Bachelor of Educational Studies is available as an exit point from all Bachelor of Education courses.

2.2 A student who has completed the following requirements may exit from the course with the Bachelor of Educational Studies:

1. 160 cp from successful completion of the Diploma or Associate Degree in Indigenous Education course;

2. 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. at least 20 cp from Education Studies;
  2. at least 30 cp from Curriculum and Pedagogy;
  3. up to 30 cp from other units which may include Curriculum Foundation Studies;

and

3. 1 Community Engagement unit.

11 This course is available only to Australian Indigenous students.
12 Requirements for working with children: All students enrolled must have the appropriate approvals before they may enter a classroom. These are: Blue Card (Queensland), Working with Children Background Check (ACT, Victoria, NSW).
13 Students in NSW will need to study EDPH101 Personal Development, Health and Physical Education 2 in place of one of these units.
14 For students not wishing to gain accreditation to teach Religious Education in Catholic schools, the Course Co-ordinator may approve an elective unit.
