Brother MB Hanrahan Religious Education Prize
Established in 2001 by the School of Religious Education at ACU National in honour of Brother MB Hanrahan (1877-1953). Brother Hanrahan was a Christian Brother who through his writing, teacher education and inspirational educational practice was a leader in the move to have Catholic School Religious Education founded on sound educational theory and practice.

Brother Marcellin Flynn Award for Excellence in Religious Education
Established in 2004 by Br Marcellin’s family and the Marist Brothers in his honour. Dr Marcellin Flynn was a senior lecturer in Religious Education at Australian Catholic University.

Dan Stewart Community Service Prize
Established by Mr Jeff Egan, an education graduate of ACU National and Director, Flagship Communications, for a student of the Sydney campuses who has demonstrated outstanding community service.

The Halliday Prize for Excellence in Youth Studies
The Halliday Prize is co-sponsored by the Salesians of Don Bosco and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences to commemorate Fr Denis Halliday, a Salesian priest who worked for many years at Boys Town in NSW. It is awarded to a student at the Melbourne Campus who has excelled in the first two years of the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Youth Studies) and who also demonstrates an overall contribution and commitment to this area.

Graham White Prize
Established in 1991 in memory of Graham White, former Senior Lecturer, by his friends, colleagues and graduates of the University. The prize is awarded to a graduate who, in the opinion of the selection committee, has achieved the best overall results in Academic and Curriculum Studies in Humanities in the two major teaching subjects in Years Three and Four of the Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Arts course at the Strathfield campus.

Jodie Michelle Reid Memorial Medal and Prize
Established in 2006 in memory of Jodie Michelle Reid, a past nursing student at the Brisbane campus who demonstrated outstanding commitment to her education and, following graduation, the profession of nursing. Awarded to a nursing student who submits the most well written essay on holistic care for people with complications from Type 1 Diabetes.

The Justine Witts Drama Prize
Established by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences to honours Justine Witts, a Bachelor of Arts drama major student at Melbourne campus until her death in 2004, and awarded to a graduating student who has completed a drama major.

Australian Computer Society Inc (NSW Branch) Prize

Maureen Dietz Prize for Science and Technology Education
Established to honour the late Associate Professor Maureen Dietz, who had a long association with ACU National and its predecessor colleges. Maureen Dietz was a committed and enthusiastic Science and Technology educator and was a member of the Senate of the University.

Brother Kieran Geaney Prize
Established in 1987 by the Marist Brothers in honour of Brother Kieran Geaney, a former Provincial of the Sydney Province of the Order and a Vice-Principal of Catholic College of Education Sydney and presented for excellence in Religious Education Studies

Lesley Anne Gleeson Prize
Established by the Gleeson family in memory of Lesley Anne Gleeson who graduated in 1983 from Catholic College of Education Sydney and whose vision was Christ in the role of teacher of children. Awarded annually to a student graduating in the Primary Teaching program who has shown performance in the Religious Education component of the program and during the Practicum of the final year and who has contributed to the Christian life of the University and the wider community.

Sisters of the Good Samaritan Prize for Commitment to Social Justice
The Sisters of the Good Samaritan were founded in Australia in 1857 to help alleviate the social, spiritual, and physical conditions of the poor in the colony, especially poor women. Their special interest in social justice is demonstrated by their sponsorship of this prize.
The prize is made to a graduate who has shown a strong commitment to social justice in the area of Habilitation. The prize reflects the charism of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Good Samaritan in the area of social justice and its commitment to the provision of pastoral care and education of persons with disabilities.

Sister Isabel Menton Prize
Established in 1977 by the Catholic Education Office, Archdiocese of Sydney, to commemorate the long and outstanding contribution to Catholic Teacher Education by Sr Isabel Menton rsj, first Principal of Catholic Teachers’ College Sydney.
Awarded to a student graduating in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) course (and currently teaching in a Catholic school within the Archdiocese of Sydney) who has an outstanding record of achievement throughout the course, both academically and in practice teaching, and who has made an exceptional contribution to the corporate life of the University and the general community.

NSW Minerals Council Award
The NSW Minerals Council has had a close association with Australian Catholic University through field excursions for Environmental Education students and regular workshops with primary teacher education students and has donated this prize for a Primary Education student at Strathfield campus to encourage academic excellence in the study of science and technology.

Zonta International is a service organisation aiming to advance the status of women worldwide. Royal College of Nursing, Australia – High Achiever Prize
This prize was established to acknowledge the hard work of graduating students with a record of consistent academic achievement, demonstrated leadership qualities, excellence in nursing practice and professional involvement. To acknowledge the hard work of these students who are just starting out in the nursing profession, the College awards a year’s membership of the College to a student in New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria.

Centaur Memorial Prize for Nurses
Established in the late 1940s in memory of twelve Australian Army Nurses who died when the World War Two hospital ship Centaur was sunk off the coast of Queensland in May 1943. The prize is awarded to a graduating student who has achieved the highest grade point average in the final year of study.

Order of Malta Prize for Excellence in Palliative Care Nursing
The Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta (The Sovereign Military Order of Malta) is an ancient international Order of Chivalry with tripartite function – military, religious and charitable. Many of the St John’s Ambulance Services and St John’s Hospitals around the world are derived from the Order. The Queensland Members of the Australian Association of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta hold the provision of palliative care to be of the highest importance and have donated this prize to encourage future palliative care nurses.

ACHS James MacGinley Award
The Australian Catholic Historical Society, wishing to encourage serious study of Australian Catholic history, has established a History Award. The Society invites entries from students enrolled at Australian universities and theological colleges offering accredited degree courses. Students may be either graduate or undergraduate.
Prescribed assignment work could well form the basis of an entry. The topic is to be directly on, or of relevance to, some aspect of Australian Catholic history. The submitted paper should not exceed 3000 words in length. Entries should conform to current academic requirements for bibliography and endnotes (or footnotes).
Each entrant to provide two copies of the paper, double-spaced and without the writer’s name; also a cover sheet giving his/her name and address, name of university, faculty of current enrolment, and degree in which enrolled. This cover sheet should be signed by a relevant member of the academic staff endorsing the eligibility of the writer as a student of the university/college.
The award has a value of $400 and consideration for publication of the winning entry in the ACHS Journal.
