EDFX100 Field Experience 1                                                                                                                  0 cp

 

This unit orients the beginning teacher by emphasising professional interaction, familiarisation and guided observation. The unit offers opportunities to develop an awareness of the needs of learners and to promote an image of the student as teacher. Through observation and discussion the student is able to understand and develop elementary teaching and management skills and to undertake some introductory activities.

This unit develops and extends basic teaching and learning skills. The unit will assist students to identify learning styles and apply various strategies to cater for such learning styles and contexts. Through observation and discussion the student is able to understand and develop elementary teaching and management skills and to undertake some introductory activities.

This unit develops and extends basic teaching and learning skills. The unit will assist students to identify learning styles and apply various strategies to cater for such learning styles and contexts. The unit offers opportunities designed to develop teaching and management skills; to plan, prepare and implement lessons geared to curriculum area studies; to develop a variety of interpersonal skills; to identify appropriate assessment techniques and to reflect critically on experiences.

 

EDFX202 Introduction to Professional Practice 1                                                                                   0 cp

 

This unit introduces students to skills demanded of teachers. It provides students with the opportunity to engage in professional interaction with their supervising teachers and other teachers in the school. It provides them with their first interaction with children in schools and is designed to develop an awareness of the needs of learners. Through observation and discussion the student is given the opportunity to understand and develop elementary teaching and management skills and to undertake introductory classroom activities.

This unit involves a 2 week block placement in a community agency. Students are expected to participate in the organisational functions of the agencies.

This unit introduces students to skills demanded of teachers. It provides students with an opportunity to observe the day to day working with a classroom and under teacher direction to interact with children.

 

EDFX211 Intro to Professional Practice B                                                                                              0 cp

 

This unit combines with EDFX210 to be equivalent to EDFX202. Through classroom observation and working with a supervising teacher the student is given the opportunity to develop elementary teaching and management skills and to undertake introductory classroom activities.

 

EDFX300 Field Experience 3                                                                                                                  0 cp

 

This unit refines and enhances teaching and learning approaches to provide for individual learning differences. The unit offers opportunities for students to apply principles of curriculum planning, to refine and consolidate evaluation and assessment techniques and strategies, refine management and discipline skills, apply appropriate curriculum knowledge through lesson and unit preparation and implementation and to promote a variety of interpersonal skills to reflect critically on experience.

The unit will assist students to identify learning styles and apply various strategies to cater for such learning styles and contexts. The unit offers opportunities designed to develop teaching and management skills; to plan, prepare and implement lessons geared to curriculum area studies; to develop a variety of interpersonal skills; to identify appropriate assessment techniques and to reflect critically on experiences.

 

EDFX305 Primary Field Experience 2                                                                                                    0 cp

EDFX307 Professional Experience 2                                                                                                      0 cp

 

This unit involves students in at least a 4 week block placement in a school. Students are expected to take responsibility for planning and implementing whole class learning experiences in their specialist areas foe an extended sequential period. Observations of teaching by generalist and/or specialist classroom teachers and participation in other activities of the school are also an expectation.

 

EDFX308 Professional Practice A                                                                                                           0 cp

 

This unit develops and extends basic teaching and learning skills. The unit will assist students to identify learning styles and apply various strategies to cater for such learning styles and contexts. The unit offers opportunities designed to develop teaching and management skills; to plan, prepare and implement lessons geared to curriculum area studies; to develop a variety of professional interpersonal skills; to identify appropriate assessment techniques and to reflect critically on experiences. This unit, combined with EDFX309, is equivalent to EDFX302.

 

EDFX309 Professional Practice B                                                                                                           0 cp

 

This unit refines and enhances teaching and learning approaches to provide for individual learning differences. The unit offers opportunities for students to apply principles of curriculum planning, to refine and consolidate evaluation and assessment techniques and strategies, refine management and discipline skills, apply appropriate curriculum knowledge through lesson and unit preparation and implementation and to promote a variety of interpersonal skills to reflect critically on experience. This unit combined with EDFX308 is equivalent to EDFX302.

 

EDFX310 Professional Experience 3                                                                                                       0 cp

This unit involves students on placement in a school. Students are expected to take responsibility for planning and implementing whole class learning experiences in their specialist areas for an extended sequential period. Observations of teaching by generalist and/or specialist classroom teaches and participation in other activities of the school are also an expectation.
