ACHS James MacGinley Award
The Australian Catholic Historical Society, wishing to encourage serious study of Australian Catholic history, has established a History Award.
The award comprises:
· A monetary prize of $400.
· Consideration for publication of the winning entry in the ACHS Journal.
Eligibility The Society invites entries from students enrolled at Australian universities and theological colleges offering accredited degree courses.
Students may be either graduate or undergraduate.
Prescribed assignment work could well form the basis of an entry.
The topic is to be directly on, or of relevance to, some aspect of Australian Catholic history. The submitted paper should not exceed 3000 words in length. Entries should conform to current academic requirements for bibliography and endnotes (or footnotes).
Each entrant should provide two copies of the paper, double-spaced and without the writer’s name; also a cover sheet giving his/her name and address, name of university, faculty of current enrolment, and degree in which enrolled. This cover sheet should be signed by a relevant member of the academic staff endorsing the eligibility of the writer as a student of the university/college.

Anne Lyons Memorial Fellowship
The Anne Lyons Memorial Fund has been established as a tangible memorial to the life and contribution of Anne Lyons (nee Byrne), a scholar, wife and teacher who died of cancer in 1987 at the age of 42 and whose prevailing passion was the study and pursuit of social justice in
Eligibility Either a travelling fellowship will be offered to a final year undergraduate or postgraduate student of ACU National for one semester to carry out relevant research into an area of Social Justice or a visiting fellowship will be offered for a suitable local or overseas scholar to attend ACU National for one semester.
Value $6,000 or 2 x $3,000.

Commonwealth Learning Scholarships (CLS)
The Commonwealth Learning Scholarships (CLS) are intended to facilitate choice in higher education and to increase participation in higher education of undergraduate students from low socio-economic backgrounds by providing them with some financial assistance.
Eligibility Australian undergraduate students and holders of permanent humanitarian visas who can demonstrate socio-economic disadvantage (e.g. by being in receipt of a means tested Centrelink benefit such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, Abstudy etc.), who have not previously completed a degree*, and in the case of Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarships (CAS), a need to move from a rural area to pursue their studies. *Full eligibility criteria are contained in the Equity Scholarships booklet – see below.
Value ACU National will award approximately 140 CLS. There are two types; both are awarded for up to 4 years.
Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (CECS) $2042 p.a. in 2006 (indexed).
Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarships (CAS) $4084 p.a. in 2006 (indexed).
Payment is in two instalments; the first is normally paid by a date falling between the lst of April and the end of Semester One.

ACU National Equity Bursary Program
Eligibility Australian undergraduate students and holders of permanent humanitarian visas who can demonstrate socio-economic disadvantage (eg. by being in receipt of a means tested Centrelink benefit such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, Abstudy etc.) are eligible to apply. Applicants must also meet the eligibility requirements for the Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (CECS), as specified in the Equity Scholarships booklet – see above.
Australian students who are enrolled in a full-time postgraduate diploma at ACU National in a Commonwealth supported place may also apply, provided they are eligible in all other respects.
Value There are eight (8) bursaries with a value of $2,000 each. The bursaries are a one-off payment to be used at the discretion of the student. Successful applicants will normally be advised prior to the end of February. Payment will normally be made by a date falling between the 1st of April and the end of Semester One.

Dominican Sisters of Eastern Australia and the
This bursary has the same eligibility provisions and value as the ACU National Equity Bursary Program outlined above, and is administered in the same way.
Eligibility As for the ACU National Equity Bursary Program outlined above. In addition, preference will be given to a student enrolled in an education course at the Strathfield.
Philip Malouf Perpetual Scholarships
The Philip Malouf Perpetual Scholarship Fund has been established to enable two students each year to enrich their studies by a travel grant for the purpose of overseas professional experience. The scholarship is to be taken during the final year of study.
Eligibility The applicants must be in the penultimate year of their undergraduate courses and be Australian citizens or permanent residents of
Value 2 x $2,500.
Applications Students to apply by 30 June in the second last year of their course, and endorsed by Head of School or Course Co-ordinator.
Catherine McAuley Scholarship
As a result of a generous donation from the Sisters of Mercy, Brisbane Congregation, the Australian Catholic University Foundation is pleased to invite applications for the Catherine McAuley Scholarship.
Only one scholarship will be awarded each year and there will be a maximum of four scholarship holders at any time. The University reserves the right not to award the Scholarship or to vary the amount of the award.
Eligibility Applicants* must be undergraduate students at ACU National, Brisbane and must be Australian citizens or have Australian Residency status.
Preference will be given to commencing students, those who are socially and economically disadvantaged, indigenous students and those from rural and regional areas. These preferences mirror the vision and mission of the Sisters of Mercy, Brisbane Congregation.
*excludes students enrolled in Theology courses.
Value Up to $2,500 per annum for the length of the course (up to four years).

Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club Bursary
Donated by Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club Ltd, the bursary is given to encourage students in genuine need to achieve academic excellence in their undergraduate program at the Strathfield.
Eligibility Students in the second year or above of their undergraduate program who have a genuine need.
Value up to $6,000 to be allocated.
Selection Committee involving Student Services will select recipient/s confidentially.
Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club Scholarships
Donated by Dooleys Lidcombe Catholic Club Ltd as an initiative of the University Foundation, these scholarships are awarded to encourage academic excellence in the undergraduate programs at Strathfield.
Eligibility Students must be in the second year or above of their undergraduate program and have an outstanding academic record.
Value up to $4,000 to be allocated.
Selection Recipient/s selected by a panel including the Heads of Schools offering courses at Strathfield.
John F. Slowey Memorial Bursary
Established by the Australian Catholic University Foundation to commemorate the life of Monsignor John F. Slowey whose leadership and vision contributed to the survival and development of Catholic Education in

Society of St Vincent de Paul Indigenous Student Scholarships
Sponsored by the Broken Bay Diocesan Council of The Society of St Vincent de Paul, up to three scholarships will be offered for Indigenous students enrolled in undergraduate (degree) courses at
Each scholarship will be made available following the student’s enrolment for the second or third year of the course. A scholarship awarded to a second year student can be expected to continue into the third year providing all components of the second year are completed and funds are available.
Eligibility To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must
· Be an Aborigine or
· Provide evidence of financial need
· Have completed all components of the first year of the course, or equivalent; and
· Display a commitment to using his/her qualifications to work for the betterment of the Indigenous community.
Value The value of any one scholarship will not exceed $2,000 per course year.
Selection Applications will be called for in October each year with a closing date of 30 November. The winner will be formally notified by Christmas of the same year, with payment to be made in February the following year. The Committee may decide that there is no appropriate applicant and not award any scholarship for the year under consideration.

Siloam Korean Presbyterian Church Scholarships
Sponsored by the Siloam Korean Presbyterian Church, the scholarships are awarded to two students studying at Strathfield.
Eligibility Second or third year students who have successfully completed first year and who have displayed a commitment to community service and social justice.
Value $1,000 each in two instalments.
