EFTSL value of units:   All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

1.          ADMISSION AS A CANDIDATE FOR THE GRADUATE CERTIFICATE

To gain entry to the Graduate Certificate a person must apply for admission and be offered a place in the course[1]. Candidates must:

(a)         have completed:

(i)       a Bachelor degree in Arts, Science or Commerce;

(ii)       the equivalent of 2 years of substantial study in the area in which students will undertake curricular and method studies;

and

(b)        demonstrate competence in English[2], [3].

2.          REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETION OF THE GRADUATE CERTIFICATE

To qualify for the Graduate Certificate, a student must complete 140 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

(a)        60 cp from Professional Studies;

(b)        60 cp from Curriculum Studies, including

(i)         20 cp from Core units; and

(ii)         40 cp from Electives;

(c)        20 cp from Professional Practice.

[2] Students may be required to undertake an extensive English language course to reach an appropriate standard of competence.

[3] Applicants whose educational qualifications do not satisfy these requirements may be considered for special entry, on the basis of documented evidence, acceptable to the Board of Notre Dame Institute of Education, that they have sound and sufficient basis for application.
