EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

1.          ADMISSION AS A CANDIDATE

To gain entry to the course a person must apply for admission and be offered a place in the course. Prerequisite requirements to be met by applicants are as follows:

(a)                 four years of an accredited undergraduate psychology sequence, comprising a first class Honours degree in psychology;

(b)                interview;   and

(c)                 two referee reports: one professional/personal and one academic.

An applicant with Honours 2A and will be eligible to apply for a place in the combined degree following completion of at least 80 cp at an appropriate level in the Master of Psychology.

2.          REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETION OF THE DEGREE

2.1        The Master of Psychology degree may be taken in either the Child and Family or the Clinical Stream.

2.2        To qualify for the combined degree, a student must complete 320 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

(a)        50 cp from Core units;

(b)        40 cp from Practicum units;

(c)        200 cp from the Thesis units; and

(d)        30 cp from Specialisation units appropriate to the relevant stream.

3.                   MAXIMUM PERIOD OF CANDIDATURE

The maximum duration of candidature will normally be not more than ten years part-time from the commencement of enrolment. The maximum period will not include any period of approved leave of absence from the PhD program.
