Minimum duration:  3 years full-time or equivalent part-time.

EFTSL value of units:   All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

 

1.                   ADMISSION AS A CANDIDATE

To gain entry to the course a person must apply for admission and be offered a place in the course. An applicant must satisfy one of the following:

 

(a)        (i)         completion of 80 cp of the Master of Psychology, with a GPA of 6 and no result lower than Credit;

(ii)                 a Research Supervisor’s report which indicates the capacity of the applicant to undertake the Doctorate;  and

(iii)        satisfactory interview;

or

(b)        (i)         completion of the Master of Psychology within the past ten years, with

a GPA of 6 and no result lower than Credit;

             (ii)         capacity for research as demonstrated by the grade obtained for the

Master’s thesis, examiners’ reports on same, or publication record

since obtaining the Master of Psychology;

(iii)                if the Master’s degree was completed more than two years prior to making application, completion of professional development suitable for attracting relevant APS College professional development points;

(iv)               satisfactory interview.

 

Referee reports may be called for from academic and/or personal/professional referees.

 

2.                   REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETION OF THE DEGREE

2.1        The degree may be taken in either the Child and Family or the Clinical Stream.

 

2.2        To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

 

(a)        50 cp from Core units;

(b)        70 cp from Practicum and Casework units;

(c)        80 cp from Thesis units; and

(d)        40 cp from Electives appropriate to the relevant stream.

 

3.                   MAXIMUM PERIOD OF CANDIDATURE

The maximum duration of candidature will be not more than 7 years part-time from the commencement of enrolment. The maximum period will not include any period of approved leave of absence.
