1. Admission Requirements
An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
International students need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites:
- Bachelor degree in Education; or
- Bachelor degree in an area other than Education and a recognised teaching qualification; or
- Bachelor degree in an area other than Education and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies or equivalent.
2. Completion Requirements
2.1 To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 120 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 20 cp from Core Educational Leadership Units;
- at least 10 cp from Research Units1;
- 20 cp from Capstone Project Units;
- up to 70 cp from the schedule of unit offerings with a maximum of four elective units from other approved ACU Masters/AQF Level 8 or 9 courses, with the approval of the Course Coordinator.
* A maximum of 40 cp can be studied at 500-level
2.2 To qualify for the Master of Educational Leadership degree with a named specialisation in:
- Catholic Educational Leadership
- Leading Learning
- Indigenous Leadership
- Executive Leadership
A student must complete 120 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 20 cp from core Educational Leadership units;
- 40 cp from Specialisation Units (1 compulsory and 3 specialist units);
- at least 10 cp from Research Methods units;
- 20 cp from Capstone Project Units (Projects must relate to specialisation)
- Up to 30 cp from any other electives at 500 or 600 level.
* A maximum of 40 cp can be studied at 500 level
3. Exit Point
3.1 A student who has completed the requirements prescribed for the Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Leadership may exit from the course with that award.
3.2 A student who has completed 40 credit points with 1 core Educational Leadership unit and at least one more Educational Leadership unit at 600-level can exit with a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership.
3.3 A student who has completed 80 credit points with a minimum of 60 cp from the Educational Leadership schedule of unit offerings can exit with a Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership.
