Appendix 1 - English Language Proficiency Requirements
In the case of courses administered by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Faculty of Business or the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy, applicants whose first language is not English must have either:
- successfully completed at least one full-time year of study in secondary or higher education where the medium of study was English; or
- demonstrated their English proficiency, as set out below.
In the case of courses administered by the Faculty of Education and Faculty of Health Sciences, applicants whose first language is not English must have either:
- successfully completed at least two full-time years of study in secondary or higher education where the medium of study was English; or
- demonstrated their English proficiency, as set out below.
The English language qualifications specified in this Appendix must have been achieved no earlier than two years prior to commencement of the course of study to which the student seeks admission.

1 The ACU Tertiary Preparation Program (Health Sciences) is acceptable for entry to bachelor degree courses in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
2 A TAFE Diploma held by students licensed as enrolled nurses or the Occupational English Language Test (OELT) with a minimum grade of B in every sub-test is acceptable for entry into these courses.
3 A student will be required to complete an IELTS test at the prescribed level for registration purposes.
4 National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) is acceptable for entry to these courses.
