EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Admission Requirements1
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites:
- four years of an accredited undergraduate psychology sequence, comprising a first class honours degree in psychology;
- for short-listed candidates, interview with the selection committee; and
- two referee reports: one professional/personal and one academic.
An applicant with Honours IIA will be eligible to apply for a place in the combined degree following completion of at least 80 cp at an appropriate level in the Master of Psychology.
2. Requirements for Completion of the Degree
2.1 The Master of Psychology degree may be taken in either the Clinical or the Educational and Developmental Stream.
2.2 To qualify for the combined degree, a student must complete 370 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
- 50 cp from Core Units;
- 40 cp from Practicum Units;
- 250 cp from Thesis Units; and
- 30 cp from Specialisation Units appropriate to the relevant stream.
3. Maximum Period of Candidature
The maximum duration of candidature will normally be not more than ten years part-time from the commencement of enrolment. The maximum period will not include any period of approved leave of absence from the Doctor of Philosophy program.
