18Requirements for working with children: All students enrolled must have the appropriate approvals before they may enter a classroom. These are: Police Check (ACT, Vic), Blue Card (Qld), Working with Children Check (NSW).
19Arts majors and minors must be in the discipline areas in which the Curriculum Studies units are undertaken; where two minors are undertaken, the second need not be in a Curriculum Studies area.
20“Elective”: units other than those required for the selected Major or Minor, listed in the Schedule of Unit Offerings or from other disciplines within the University (subject to campus availability, unit limitations and having met prerequisite and co-requisite requirements).
21The number of Professional Experience units varies according to the State or Territory.
2540 cp are to be taken from curriculum and teaching studies units which build on discipline sequences already taken and include two curriculum and teaching studies units in each of two teaching subject areas. To be eligible to enrol in a curriculum and teaching studies sequence, a student must either have satisfactorily completed the prerequisite study prescribed for that curriculum and teaching study or be able to demonstrate knowledge or skills approved by the Course Co-ordinator as equivalent. In the case of Religious Education, the designated Theological Studies units provide co-requisites.
27This is a new code to reflect the nature of the Extended Practicum in secondary schools. An internship may not be possible in States other than NSW as the students may not be regarded as qualified teachers, but the students need to have more professional experience than the original program included and this adaptation has been made.
