Bursaries Prizes and Scholarships

As well as those that can be accessed from the menu on the left, the Australian Catholic University Foundation and various benefactors fund a number of bursaries, prizes and scholarships. Some are open to all enrolled students; others are restricted to students in particular courses or even at particular campuses. Bursaries, prizes and scholarships are given at the discretion of the University and are subject to funding being available. For further information contact the Foundation Co-ordinator. ACU National Postgraduate Research Scholarships are also available for local and international applicants – see University Research Degrees section of the Handbook for details. In addition there are approximately 140 equity scholarships, known as the Commonwealth Learning Scholarships (CLS), funded by the Commonwealth government. For information see the CLS section under Undergraduate Awards – Students in All Faculties – All Campuses as listed below.

Australian Federation of University Women Scholarships

The Australian Federation of University Women – Victoria offers scholarships which are open to female students who are enrolled at Victorian universities and who can demonstrate that they have been or are experiencing disadvantage in the pursuit of their studies.

Australian Veterans’ Children’s Assistance Trust Ltd offer assistance to children or grandchildren of veterans – all tertiary degrees in Australia. For further information contact Tel: 1800 620 361 or email vvt@accsoft.com.au

International scholarships– Australian students interested in studying overseas can access information on international scholarships through the Association of Commonwealth Universities ISAC website: http://www.acu.ac.uk/adverts/isac.

General Sir John Monash Awards for postgraduate studies (PhD, DPhil or professional Masters degree) are offered for study at some of the best overseas universities. Eight awards are made annually to Australian citizens adjudged to have outstanding academic achievement, community consciousness and service and leadership potential in their field and the community. Mary Ward Grant: The 'Mary Ward Grant' was established to promote the dignity and role of women in the church and society. It is a partial grant, supporting specialist or post-graduate study of theology, spirituality and pastoral ministry; in particular to assist applicants who have financial need.

Royal College of Nursing - a number of scholarships are available for undergraduate students of nursing and related health care studies, eg the Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme (funded through the Office of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health – for indigenous students), Australian Rural and Remote Nurse Scholarship Program   (students living in rural and remote areas of Australia) and Aged Care Nursing Undergraduate Scholarship (student living in rural and regional areas of Australia).
